LA DATCHA: A BEACON
OF ULTRA-LUXURY IN
FORTE DEI MARMI
INTERVIEW WITH DASHA TINKOVA, MANAGER, LA DATCHA COLLECTION
rehoming them. We also managed to keep the original ceiling paintings, which had very
Parisian themes such as game hunting and truffle hunting. The restoration of these ceilings
alone took years, with master painters from Florence painstakingly returning them to their
former glory.
What were some of the unique challenges of the restoration, especially in matching the
historical elements of the villa?
Dasha: We went to great lengths to find materials that matched the original elements. For
instance, the marble for the staircase came from the Carrara mountains, just behind the
home. It's considered the world's most expensive marble, but it was important for us to
maintain the integrity and authenticity of the house and to source materials locally, if
possible.
Did you carry that same philosophy through to the interior?
Dasha: We opted for a modern twist on the furniture, choosing leather and suede for
practicality and elegance, especially as a summer house near the beach. We also
commissioned exclusive pieces from Promemoria, a brand known for outfitting yachts,
which took three years to complete. It's a blend of luxury and functionality that suits our
high standards.
La Datcha boasts some elevated luxury features. Could you highlight a few?
Dasha: One of the home's standout features is the main hallway leading to an enclosed
swimming pool, accentuated with a hand-blown glass chandelier by famed American glass
artist Chihuly. Artisanal craftsmanship is a theme throughout the home, with emperor
chandeliers and hand-laid tile mosaics.
The home is also unique with its beach amenities; could you share insight into how
guests enjoy this unique aspect of the villa?
Dasha: Yes, it is a source of pride for us. We have the only private beach in Forte dei Marmi,
complete with a restaurant, outdoor pool, and ten private cabanas for exclusive guest
usage. This space is so large and private that often, it is the centerpiece of guest's private
event requests.
Nestled in the heart of Forte dei Marmi, a jewel of Italy's Tuscan Riviera, stands La Datcha,
an emblem of ultra-luxury living that marries historical grandeur with contemporary
elegance. Our interview with Dasha delves into the remarkable transformation of a structure
that began its journey in the 1930s as a modest 20-room hotel. Once an affordable retreat
contrasting its magnificent façade, the building lay abandoned for six decades until it was
envisioned as a unique sanctuary that now epitomizes the pinnacle of luxury super home
chartering.
The transformation process sounds extensive. How did you approach the restoration?
Dasha: It was a labor of love and dedication. Preserving the building's historical architecture
was paramount, both inside and out. Initially, we tackled a pigeon infestation by humanely

Entertainment, leisure and technology often go hand-in-hand, how have you
incorporated these into the home?
Dasha: In the villa, Bang & Olufsen technologies, a cinema, and a game room with a golf
simulator unobtrusively enhance the experience for guests of all ages. Paired with a private
selection from the wine cellar, stocked with global selections, entertaining with elegance is
made easy with a compliment of service staff.
La Datcha has become synonymous with impeccable service. What can guests expect?

and wellness experts. It's about creating a seamless, luxurious experience for our guests.
